Owner Jack Mathers is a Seattle native who has spent the last 40 years in the fish business. After working on fishing boats in Alaska and in fish processing plants, he started Jack’s Fish Spot in Seattle’s Madison Park. Soon after, The Spot moved to the historic Pike Place Market where Jack has been daily since 1982.
Jack’s commitment to keeping his fresh fish at a fair price is what drives The Spot’s success. His fresh seafood counter and his Seafood Bar are always affordable, yet delicious. With live crab, oysters, clams, mussels, plus fresh salmon, ahi tuna, and sea scallops, all at a reasonable price, it’s no wonder that Jack’s Fish Spot is the favorite fish market and seafood bar for local Seattleites and visitors alike. The best prices on seafood in the Pike Place Market are right here at Jack’s!
Completely Family Owned & Operated
After graduating from the University of Washington in 2018, Jack’s oldest daughter, Murphie, has been running the fish market. Jack’s two other children, Hailey and Cooper, also work at the family fish market during school holidays. If you stop by the shop you’re more than likely to be helped by one of the Mathers’ family.
“Over the years, our motto remains: Fresh Fish at a Fair Price,” said Jack, while breaking up a crab fight. “That’s why we attract regular local customers as well as the tourists at Pike Place.” With a friendly staff and seafood at its freshest, Jack and Jack’s Fish Spot truly captures the essence of the Northwest.
